This module has helped me think about student-centered assessment in the following ways....
I am thinking of student assessment in two catagories: formative and summative. This module has helped me consider additional ways for students to participate more in the assessments. I strongly recommend the professional resource - Assessing Learning: Librarians and Teachers as Partners by Violet H. Harada and Joan M. Yoshina. It's published by Libraries Unlimited, and it is packed full of assessment strategies for library media specialists at all grade levels.
ReplyDeleteI really like your idea of students helping to create their own assessments. I think that this might be really good to give students the opportunity to create part of the assessments. This will have the students take a vested interest in the material as well as the assessment. Good idea!
